When will Uber launch its first self-driving car?
Posted by TechRadal on Tuesday, February 12, 2021 05:02:48The ride-hailing company Uber is looking to build a self-parking service in Minnesota and hopes to get one up and running before the end of 2021.
The company has announced that it has been granted a $5 million investment in a project called Waymo.
The funding, which was announced in March and is being used for development and testing, will enable Uber to build an autonomous vehicle on a test track in Minnesota.
The autonomous vehicle will use “an existing track and parking lot”, according to Uber.
Uber is hoping to roll out a fully autonomous vehicle by 2021.
The company is also working with a car manufacturer called Waymob.
Waymo has been in talks with a number of automakers, including Volvo, Ford, Toyota and General Motors.
But the company is likely to choose Uber as its first customer for the Waymo vehicle, as Uber has been working on its own self-drive car.
Waymobiles first autonomous vehicle, called WayMO, is a hybrid vehicle that can operate in a city without any internal combustion engine, but will use its own battery.
The car has already been tested in several states and is expected to be ready to roll off the assembly line in 2021.
